You’re a generous person. In your wedding business, you go out of your way to help brides. I’ll bet good money that you go the extra mile for your clients. And that you’re at least a little proud of just how generous you are.
And that’s awesome. Except when it’s not.
Are you giving away discounts and extras constantly? Why? The fundamental question you need to ask is this:
Am I doing this because I want to be generous or because I am afraid?
Afraid, you ask? What am I afraid of? Most wedding vendors are afraid of one of two things: they’re afraid of losing the sale or they’re afraid of not pleasing someone. So many of us are people-pleasers. There’s nothing wrong with that. But if your “generosity” is based in fear you’re not only leaving money on the table, you’re giving clients and potential clients the sense that you aren’t worth it at full price.
And the fact that you’re one of my glorious, talented, blog readers means that you are totally freakin’ worth it. Keep being generous. But do it because you want to and not because you feel like you have to.
